Behind the Screens: Meet Our Team!
Behind The Screens is our way of showing you our development process with our first Meet The Team.
Step beyond the flat screens of your phone or computer and into the FlatPonies stables! Here, the only flat thing is our logo and screens — our team is made up of real, 3D-shaped humans. But each team member has a 2D pony mascot, designed to reflect their unique personality.
Giddy up! We’re excited to introduce you to our office culture, what we’re working on, and—because we know you’re curious—why each pony mascot looks the way it does!
Programmer
Jesper Andersson

What’s your role at FlatPonies?
I’m a programmer. Sometimes I work on gameplay features like the enemies, player, or bosses, and I try to bring the designer’s ideas to life in the game. Other times, I create tools that help our workflow and write tests for the game to make sure nothing breaks without us noticing.
What makes a great work environment?
To me, a great work environment is one where I can have fun with my colleagues, have time to work on my tasks undisturbed, and a management that cares for the employees.
What excites you most about our current project?
Playing the levels once they’re finished! I’m also looking forward to working on more bosses – if I get the chance.
What’s been the biggest ‘aha’ moment in development so far?
I’m a programmer, so when I get stuck on an annoying issue, I can usually just fix it.
Pertains mostly to things not gameplay related and more workflow related.
What’s a fun or unexpected fact about you that your teammates might not know about you?
I did archery in gymnasium and ranked top 10 twice in a national competition for my category/age group.
If you could jump back in time, and play your favorite childhood video game, which one would it be and why? OR What’s a gaming moment from your childhood that you’ll never forget?
I’d probably start over on ‘Borderlands 2’. It’s the game with the most hours on it in my Steam library, and I’d like to go back and enjoy the story fresh again.
Tell us about your pony—why is it designed this way?
My pony has my tortoise, Turbo, in one hoof and a slice of watermelon in the other.
Turbo loves watermelon and goes absolutely nuts for it. She tends to just jam her face in it like she’s hoping for osmosis to do the eating part for her before she gives up and digs in for real. It always looks like a crime scene once she’s done.
